Discover our effective writing and note-taking program tailored for students with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia at 3D Learning Experts.
WHAT APPROACH DO YOU USE?
3D Learning Experts uses the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) approach. IEW's unique approach provides the structure that students need to develop confidence in the writing process, while gradually guiding them toward greater independence and creativity. This approach is supported by materials for reading, grammar, spelling, literature, poetry, public speaking, and more.
HOW DOES THE APPROACH WORK?
Learners will receive systematic and structured instruction to help them with note taking skills and organize all types of written composition. They start with one approach and add in another approach while continuing to practice the previously learned skills. The nine structural models are: Note taking Writing paragraphs Stories Simple reports Writing from pictures Research reports Creative writing Essays Critique
Additionally, stylistic techniques are taught incrementally to gently move students from the basics into more sophisticated writing: strong verbs quality adjectives sentence openers alliterations and more
How long is the program?
The writing program is meant to be completed in 24 weeks. If the learner doesn't complete their homework independently, their teacher will help them with it, which will extend the time it takes to complete the program.
What are the THEME this year?
For the 2021-22 school year, 3D Learning Experts has chosen to use three history-theme based courses: Ancient History for 3rd-6th graders Medieval History for 6th-8th graders U.S. History for 9th-12th graders.
Does IEW APPROACH work for students with learning and developmental challenges?
Yes! IEW is fantastic for those with expressive challenges. It can be used to teach students with dyslexia and similar learning differences. Through this approach, students can get through the blocks that have always made written communication so difficult for them. IEW is very customizable and makes so much sense to struggling students that it works very well for kids that just don't 'get it' otherwise.
Is there a time commitment?
The writing program is the only one we offer that we expect learners to commit to complete the entire program which should be 24 weeks, if the learners completes their homework assignments independently.
Do you have an in person option instead of online?
Our program is 100% online, we find that it is extremely effective for 95% of students. If your learners is not able to successfully accomplish the work virtually, we will let you stop the program early.
